Partner Event - itSMF Southern Alberta - Problem Management Practitioner's Forum

itSMF Canada’s Southern Alberta Branch is hosting a series of four events in 2012 to bring together professionals in an active discussion on Problem Management. Some of the topics that will be discussed in this session will include:
  • Define a successful investigation
  • Makeup of a successful Problem Manager
  • Impact of Change Management on PbM
  • Proactive monitoring of automated alerts for trends/patterns
Event will include a facilitated boardroom discussion and will be followed by an optional lunch at a nearby restaurant to allow for continued conversation (lunch not included in registration). The Problem Management Practitioner’s Forum is for Information Technology professionals to practice continuous improvement by sharing their tips and tricks with peers.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS:

Jorge Wong is a Problem Manager as part of the Service Management Team in the Information Technology department of Enmax. He focuses on problem investigations, Root cause Analysis, and problem preventions. He is responsible for managing the life cycle of all Problems. He undertakes research for the root-causes of Incidents and thus ensures the enduring elimination of interruptions. His primary objectives are to prevent Incidents from happening, and to minimize the impact of Incidents that cannot be prevented.

Prior to being the Problem Manager, he held various IT positions at Enmax, including Relationship Manager, Service Delivery Lead, Applications Support Lead, Senior Systems Analyst, and Contact Centre Technology Support Lead. He has an ITIL background and has been in Information Technology for over 13 years.

Jon Dowell is a consultant with KSLD Consulting and has over 15 years of experience solving I.T. mysteries. Jon’s work on investigations, as a technical specialist and Problem Manager, has provided him with an understanding of the many challenges involved determining root cause. Jon has worked in progressive operational and project roles supporting technology in Oil & Gas companies and the Hospitality sector. Currently, Jon is working with Suncor in support of their Problem and Incident Management team.
